Really disappointed that the Matildas couldn’t get to the semi-final of the Womens World Cup :( but proud of em…they were great to watch…will be getting myself along to some W-League matches in Australia this year hopefully! Only Japan left for me to support, since Germany’s out! Go Nadeshiko!
Oh, Gamba Osaka won again. Their games always involve so many goals…amazing. Great team to watch. Even if Urawa’s arch rivals. Wish we could score some goals…
Female footballers will forever be caught between objectification and derision while this attitude dominates and it is time it became as unacceptable as racism and homophobia. It come from the same nasty, uncool place and should not be acceptable.
Free your mind. Get into the women’s world cup. You’re just denying yourself pleasure for no reason if you don’t and you’re denying our women support that they have every right to expect from their countrymen and women.

John Nicholson of Football 365 on “Why You Won’t Watch the Women’s World Cup” I was surprised (and delighted) to find this article on F365, since the intelligence of the commenters rarely extends past “No UR GAY!!!!” and I once read an article that speculated that footballers are more feminine now and getting injured more often because of birth control hormones that are in the water. An article calling out readers in their sexism regarding the WWC was really refreshing. (via andcouldheplayblog) |
